Volunteer

Volunteers have long been an important part of the Community Care team and following the lifting of certain covid protocols we are pleased to once again welcome volunteers (in limited numbers) back to the agency. If you are interested in volunteering kindly complete and submit the volunteer application.

Community Care welcomes volunteers who are able to bring patience, compassion and excellent communication skills to support our clients. The Mission, Vision & Values guide our agency operations and our volunteer program.

When available, some of the volunteer positions include:

  • Front desk receptionist
  • Warehouse staff
  • Clothing and food cupboard monitors
  • Sorters of both clothing and food
  • Special event/occasion volunteers
  • “Packers” to sort food as it arrives

How do we get started?

  • Please complete a volunteer application
  • Sign a Declaration of Confidentiality
  • New volunteers are required to take part in a short orientation program to be sure this is the right fit for all involved, and an opportunity to learn so much more about the work we do for those in need
  • Please have a letter of reference prepared and available at your volunteer interview

Student Community Service Volunteering

Students volunteer in a number of areas including our warehouse, clothing room and food distribution centre.

Volunteer Hours

Monday to Friday, after school: 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

Throughout the summer and during school holidays: selected Saturdays and weeknight evenings may become available during special events and food drives.

Placement Programs

Our ongoing cooperative education placement program provides a number of opportunities for individuals. We welcome both secondary and post secondary students. The agency and student both benefit from the hands on work and experience gained.

(We require a commitment of 1- 3 hour shift per week)

Please indicate preferred days/hours

*For volunteers assisting in the warehouse shift, times are 8:30 - 12:30 and 12:30 - 4:30 and include Friday afternoon.
