CODE OF CONDUCT

We compassionately provide vital services and assistance to individuals and families. In support of the health and safety of our employees, volunteers and other clients, policies and procedures are in place to address workplace violence, discrimination and harassment. Our policy allows an employee or volunteer the ability to deny service to a client who is abusive, aggressive or violent.

FOOD BANK & CLOTHING ROOM

Please note – there is a MAX 15 minute time limit in the Food Room

  • Clients MUST be a resident of St. Catharines and present ID at every visit
  • Clients MUST bring reusable bags to shop
  • Only ONE member of the family is allowed in the Food Room (for space requirements)
  • On busy days, you may be required to wait outside – please dress accordingly
  • We do not have a public washroom
  • Only Registered Service Animals are permitted inside
  • Our building and parking lot are busy. For your safety, children must remain with a parent/caregiver AT ALL TIMES.

TO REGISTER PLEASE:

  • Take a number when you arrive
  • When your number is called, proceed to the Client desk.

WHEN REGISTERING PLEASE BRING:

  • ID for every member of the household
    (birth certificate, passport, health card)
  • Proof of address
    (ie gas, hydro, phone bill with current address, ODSP/OW slip)
  • Your rent receipt, mortgage payments
  • Income source information – you must have some form of income’
    (e.g. OAS, CPP)
  • File must be updated on a yearly basis, or if your situation changes
    (change of address, income source or number of people in the household).

ONCE REGISTERED:

  • Take a number when you arrive
  • When your number is called, proceed to the Client desk.
  • There is a MAX 15 minute time limit in the Food Room.
  • Clients can do a Full Food Shop once every 30 days (30 days from last shop)
  • Clothing shop every 60 days
  • Please note our program runs on donations so items available will vary between visits

HOUSING PROGRAMS
ACCESSING OUR SERVICES

Our housing programs help people at risk of homelessness due to an eviction, family breakdown or any another reason.

To reach the housing team, email housing@communitycarestca.ca or call 905.984.8955 and press 1 or dial
extension 214. Depending on your needs and the urgency of your situation, we can make some initial referrals, schedule an appointment or do an immediate intake. If you are in an urgent crisis, lost your housing in the last 48 hours or facing imminent eviction in the next 72 hours, press 0 to get to the front desk.

The Housing Help Program also runs an ID Clinic that assists people experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis and who can’t afford to replace their lost or stolen birth certificates.
