Hometown Hero: Community Care Staff Commended

Maintenance Manager Gary Romagnoli received a letter of commendation from the Chief of Police for his assistance in apprehending a wanted individual in the community. This individual had evaded arrest since 2019, and was attempting to flee officers at the time of Gary’s involvement, running through the property of Community Care. Gary observed the individual and officers in pursuit, and at 77 years old, chose to engage the individual, facing danger, to block his escape. Gary was able to apprehend the individual by physically blocking his path and causing him to lose his balance. The police were then able to take the man into custody, with Gary sustaining bruising and a large cut on his arm, which he later sought medical attention for.

We commend Gary for making the decision to become involved in the pursuit of this individual, assisting police, preventing the escalation of the situation, and ensuring staff, volunteers and clients of Community Care were not involved in the incident.

Thank you, Gary!
