After the Bell

Summer time is tough for kids when the many school-centered support programs are not available. We’re proud to say, that thanks to a partnership with Food Banks Canada, Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold is able to step in and help bridge the gap. How does this work?

Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold applies for support from our national agency, Food Banks Canada. If successful in our application, we then receive a specific number of bags of nutritious, child-friendly food packs to various local Food Banks like ours. In 2022, Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold received support for nearly 800 children, and just over 800n in 2023. This year, we are receiving just over 1,100, which represents 1 in 4 of our children accessing our services.  While we know it’s not enough, we are thankful of the support we do receive that helps these children over the summer months. For insights on how many Children & Youth we supported in 2023, please see the chart below.
