Accreditation – The Insights

Community Care is pleased to be participating in Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence Accreditation process. Every organization within the network upholds Food Banks Canada’s Ethical Food Banking Code, ensuring consistent and respectful service for all. Community leaders and volunteers also complete safe food handling training to ensure they maintain the highest safe food handling standards and that everyone across the country who needs food support can feel confident and safe when accessing the services available to them at our food banks.

Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence logoTo provide the highest levels of safety and dignity in food banking, Food Banks Canada launched a new set of national food bank standards that cover all areas of food bank operations to ensure overall operational excellence across the entire national network.

While the Accreditation program is extensive and requires the Agency to meet over 80 standards in six main categories, the benefits of the program are worth the considerable effort! The standardization achieved through the Accreditation process will bring an improved client experience, consistency of practices, greater Board engagement and more effective Board governance, an enhanced sense of organizational pride, and will build greater trust and credibility – a clear advantage in fundraising, employee and volunteer recruitment and Board recruitment.
