Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold has been supporting individuals and families in our community since 1919. Our mission is to compassionately provide vital services and assistance that help bridge their journey to self sufficiency.

We are looking for an outgoing, positive and enthusiastic individual to fill the vacant, fulltime position of Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator to develop, promote and lead volunteer opportunities across the Agency.

The ideal candidate will serve as a positive, public ambassador for the Agency, connecting with people, building relationships and creating a welcoming experience for volunteers.

Among other things, you will;

• Forecast volunteer needs and ensure effective volunteer deployment across all programs by participating in planning discussions and working collaboratively with Agency leadership, managers and staff
• Develop, implement and promote recruitment initiatives and opportunities; coordinate volunteer applications, interviews, screening and selection; match and orient volunteers with appropriate responsibilities and set expectations consistent with Agency policies and procedures; promote the Agency’s mission, values and commitments
• Coordinate and communicate volunteer schedules, changes and cancellations to ensure appropriate coverage across programs, services and special events; support event logistics and fundraising activities on and off-site
• Encourage, engage and recognize volunteers and share volunteer impact stories with the Communications Lead; exchange information with prospective and current volunteers; track and document volunteer attendance and outcomes using Better Impact software and provide regular reports

With a diploma or degree in Social Service Work, Human Resources or related field, you have at least two (2) years of relevant experience. With current knowledge of volunteer management practices, you have strong organizational, relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills. Mindful of the Agency’s profile in the community, you are professional, confident and tactful with demonstrated respect for diverse backgrounds, perspectives and lived experiences.

A valid, unrestricted driver’s license – minimum Class G – access to a reliable vehicle and willingness to travel throughout Niagara are must haves, as is a police background check satisfactory to the Agency. You may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends, based on program demands.

The position offers an annual salary range of $52,000 – $60,000 based on 37.5 hours per week. You may also be eligible to participate in the Agency’s group insurance plan.
