Emergency Services During COVID-19

Business Hours: 8:30 – 4:30 Monday to Friday

All face to face services are closed to the public. However we are maintaining emergency food security. We are accepting donations of “Food and Funds” at this time.

Within the agency social distancing is in practice. Regular hygiene (ie: hand washing, cleaning of any surfaces, etc) is practiced diligently by staff still on premises. We are following the guidelines of Niagara Public Health and Food Banks Canada

Food Security:

Distribution is between 10 and noon, 12:30 -3 Monday to Friday.

We are providing emergency bags of food through our warehouse door off North Street. Identification is required. Our inventory is stable at the moment, however we are going through 8 skids of food per day and may have to adjust amounts distributed in the future.

Clothing Program:

The clothing program is suspended at this time, however we are able to deal with emergency requests on a very limited basis. We do have a supply of mitts and socks at the warehouse door.

Donations:

Given the current situation, we are accepting donations of “FOOD AND FUNDS” only at this time. Unfortunately we are not able to accept donations of clothing and household goods at this time.

FOOD DONATIONS:

  • accepted at the agency during business hours 8:30 – 4:30 Monday to Friday
  • donation bins are in all grocery stores and are picked up daily

FUNDS (MONETARY DONATIONS):

  • monetary donations can be accepted at the warehouse door during business hours

HOUSING HELP SERVICES

All face to face services are closed to the public and Social distancing is in practice.

Regular hygiene (ie: hand washing, cleaning of any surfaces, etc) is practiced diligently by staff still on premises

Income Tax Clinics – halted temporarily

Trusteeship:

  • People will be receiving their cheques with no contact through our front door. All basic needs will be given at month end
  • All utilities will be paid based on last month’s budget
  • TD bank cheque cashing privileged moved to Lake and Lakeshore branch
    • Public transit is free
  • All rents will be mailed including those that were direct deposit

ID clinic – canceled temporarily

Service Canada clinic - canceled till June 2020 (longer if need be)

OESP electricity credit will still be done remotely via, fax, phone or email

LEAP Enbridge and Hydro One – people are instructed to contact United Way Simcoe Muskoka
1-855-487-5327 they will take care of the verification

LEAP Electra applications can be taken over the phone and managed remotely

Housing Services – people can be assisted remotely via phone or email

Niagara Regional Housing
Applications will be taken over the phone and sent to NRH. If any information is mission NRH will send the client a letter and the client can return missing information directly to NRH via email, regular mail or fax.
