Adopt an Angel

Families can be under an enormous amount of financial pressure, especially during the holidays.

Many teens in school also work to help their families, while others live away from home...some on their own.

Add to this the aging population: grandparents living in the home…or alone.

Ideally, we would like to have something to give to ALL ages registered at Community Care as through experience, we know that these clients are likely to be the last to receive a holiday gift, if at all.

Together with your family, business, organization…or even as an individual wishing to contribute, you can make a significant difference to a child’s, teen’s or senior’s Christmas memory. (Your delivery date will be arranged for early December.)

Adopt an Angel

Through the Adopt an Angel Program, toys, stocking stuffers and warm winter accessories are collected for children from babies to 12 years of age.

Adopt a Teen or a Senior Angel

Gifts are collected for teens of families with younger siblings: no child should watch others open gifts.

In addition, backpacks or bags on wheels are filled with necessities and goodies and are distributed to individuals who are likely to be forgotten during the holidays: those living on their own.

What is an appropriate gift for a teen or senior?

  • Backpacks: male and female
  • Toiletries: shampoo, deodorant, talcum powder, shaving supplies, gel, hairspray, toothbrushes, hair brushes, etc.
  • Hoodies
  • Watches, wallets
  • Treats
  • Electronics: music, clock radios
  • Shopping bags: with wheels are ideal
  • One size fits all housecoats
  • Slippers
  • Watches, wallets
  • Treats, jams, chocolates
  • Puzzle books, puzzles, reading material

Stocking stuffers and GIFT CARDS are always welcomed - example: movie passes, bowling, Tim Horton’s, fast food chains, Pen Centre, Shoppers Drug Mart, electronic stores, St. Catharines Transit (bus tokens), etc!

Suggestions

Companies/Organizations: Those who generously participate can create trees of stars, angels, tags etc. The tags are taken and your gift is replaced under the tree. Please feel free to create names for your trees, should you choose.

NOTE: Because Community Care takes the utmost care to protect the confidentiality of our clients, we only provide the genders and ages of the children allocated to you. We thank you for your understanding.

Families/Individuals: This program works wonderfully for families who wish to give a gift that will truly make a difference.

EXAMPLE of possibilities:

  • Place a limit on the amount spent - $10, $15, $20 each - your choice.
  • Each person purchases something for someone their own age: the 5 year old helps shop for a 5 year old gift, the teenager for another teen their age, a grandmother purchases for a senior (perhaps a stocking stuffer).

Once purchased, the gifts may be delivered to 12 North St., St. Catharines or 19 Albert St. W. in Thorold.

NOTE: For safety and security reasons, we thank you for only including gifts that are UNWRAPPED and NEW.
